An exquisite antique converter pendant in the form of an arrow. Arrows had many meanings in antique jewellery: they could be worn for love (Cupid's arrow); vengeance (poison arrow); truth ('straight as an arrow') or strength (Diana the Huntress with her quiver of arrows).
The arrow is crafted in 15ct yellow gold, set with seed pearls and finished with fine millegrain. It can be worn as either a pendant or a pin - there are small bales on the head and tail for wear as a pendant, or the tail can be released by opening the 'cliquet' fastener (a small lever) for wear as a pin. It comes with its original box, marked 'James Walker Ltd, 141 High St, Putney, S.W. 15'.
Stamped for 15ct gold.
