An exquisite antique Art Deco era (1920-1945) jabot pin in the form of an arrow. Arrows had many meanings in antique jewellery: they could be worn for love (Cupid's arrow); vengeance (poison arrow); truth ('straight as an arrow') or strength (Diana the Huntress with her quiver of arrows).
The arrow's head and fletching are decorated with a multitude of small diamonds, while the shaft features vibrant green paste in a millegrain setting. It is crafted in 9ct bi-coloured gold, with white gold to the top of the arrow, and yellow gold to its underside. The pin operates by removing the tail, which is held in place with a 'cliquet' fastener (a small lever which lifts and snaps back into place to secure it).
No stamps are present, but the gold tests as 9ct.
Brooch measures approximately: 37mm (1.5") x 7mm (0.3") at the widest point.
Weight: approximately 1.1g
Condition: Good condition with wear commensurate with age. All stones are present. There are chips to two of the paste gems. The cliquet fastener functions well and is secure. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
