An exceptional antique enamel and pearl ball locket in 14ct yellow gold. Finished in serene, cerulean blue enamel, both sides of the locket bear a star emblem with a seed pearl to its centre. The locket opens with a hinge and catch to reveal a double-sided compartment containing the original frames and glass, along with a tintype photograph likely belonging to its original owner. The exterior fittings of the locket are crafted in 14ct yellow gold. A rare and incredibly well-preserved antique piece that is sure to attract attention whenever it is worn.
No stamps are present, but the gold tests as a minimum of 14ct.
Weight (approximate): 8.6g.
Measurements (approximate): Diameter of locket is 19mm.
Condition: Very good, with wear commensurate with age. The enamel is in excellent condition with only a few small irregularities ,all less than the size of a pin head. The gold has light marks and general wear. The hinge and closure function well and the glazed panels are intact. It looks like there may have been an extra bauble on the frame near the catch at some point. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
Please note: the chain shown in the pictures is not included.
