A striking Georgian era (1714-1836) antique mourning ring. Featuring an unusual design of concentric bands in black enamel, the ring is set with a blood-red garnet cut en cabochon and crafted in 9ct rose gold. The rear of the ring's face has a personalised engraving, partly legible, with the name 'John' and initials 'MO'. Rings such as this were worn to mourn a loved one, and this is a particularly well-preserved example that will please any collector.

No stamps are present, but the gold tests as a minimum of 9ct.

Measurements (approximate): The ring face measures 12mm x 12mm. The garnet measures 6mm x 7mm.
Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. The garnet is in excellent condition with no damage or eye-visible wear. The enamel is intact. There are some minor losses to the gold bands on the face. The engraving to the rear is rubbed. The ring appears to have been previously resized. The gold has general light marks.
