A stunning antique Georgian era (1714-1836) diamond solitaire ring. The pear-shaped stone is rose cut and held in a cut down collet, with foiling that gives it a delightful silvery hue. The band features split shoulders which taper to an thin, reeded gold shank. This would make a perfect engagement ring and can also be worn as a dress ring.
No hallmarks are present, but the gold tests as a minimum of 14ct, and the collet is silver.
Size M (US 6.5). Resizing not recommended.
Weight (approximate): 1.4g
Measurements (approximate): Ring measures 8.5mm in width, tapering to 1.75mm at the rear of the band. Diamond measures 7mm x 4mm; weight is estimated as 0.35 carat.
Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. The diamond is in good condition with no chips or abrasion, and has lots of fire and sparkle. The foiling has some minor discolouration. The back of the setting is dented. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
