This dazzling pair of earrings date to the Georgian period (1714-1836). The tear-shaped drops feature spectacular rose cut diamonds with foil backing which sparkle vigorously as they catch the light. With a decorative silver border to complement the gems, collet settings and shepherd's crook fittings in 14ct yellow gold, it is rare to find earrings of this age in such wonderful condition.
The fittings are stamped with partial hallmarks, but they are illegible. The gold tests as a minimum of 14ct.
Weight (approximate): 2.8g
Measurements (approximate): The drop length is 18mm. The diamonds measure 5mm x 5mm. Together, they have a weight of about 0.5 carats.
Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. The diamonds have some small chips and natural inclusions visible when viewed under magnification. The foil backings have some slight discolouration. The fittings appear to be strong and in good working order.
