A stunning Victorian era (1837-1901) bangle with a horseshoe motif, worn for good luck. The horseshoe is set with alternating cabochon cut turquoise and coral buds, to a raised openwork gallery. The bangle is made from 14ct yellow gold, with decorative embellishments to the shoulders. The gold band is flexible and twists to allow it to be opened.
No stamps are present, but the gold tests as 14ct (XRF tested).
Weight (approximate): 8.4g
Bangle size: Small
Measurements (approximate): internal diameter is 57mm (2 1/4") x 46mm (1 3/4") (suits a small wrist). Horseshoe is 16mm x 14.5mm.
Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. The gems have minimal wear. The coral is natural, but may have been colour treated. There are a few dents to the metal at the sides and rear of the bangle. Wear to the gold on the bangle's interior indicates that it may be gilt (XRF testing indicates that the bangle is pure gold, so it may be 14ct gilding over a lower carat gold core). Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
