An exceptional antique Victorian era (1837-1901) mourning locket crafted in black enamel and 14ct yellow gold (back and front). The front of the locket features a halo of stars surrounding a round-cut ruby, while the rear has a spray of flowers and polka dots. The lockets opens to reveal a photo of a Victorian gentleman and a locket of hair under glass (both of which can be removed if desired).
Not hallmarked, but tests for a minimum of 14ct gold.
Locket measures approximately: 19mm x 29mm (including bale).
Weight: approximately 4.8g
Condition: Good with wear commensurate with age. There are some scuffs to the enamel and small losses to the edges (one area to the front, two to the rear). The gold has some minor wear. The locket opens and closes well. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
