A rare and unusual antique ring from the Victorian era (1837-1901) in the form of a belt and buckle, signifying eternal love or an unbreakable bond. The exterior of the band is finely engraved with scrolled details in rosy 18ct gold. The feature which really sets this ring apart, however, is the two hidden doors built into its band, which open on hinges to reveal a secret compartment concealed within containing hairwork.
No hallmarks are present, but the gold tests as 18ct.
Size Q ½ (US 8.75). Not resizable.
Weight (approximate): 4.0g
Measurements (approximate): Band measures 5mm in width.
Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. The gold has lovely patina; the engraved details are rubbed. The compartment hinges and clasp both function well. One of the hinged doors is not quite flush with the band. The hairwork inside the band is slightly frayed at the ends. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
Cost includes full insurance coverage for loss or damage in transit.
