A dainty and diminutive Victorian era (1837-1901) turquoise pansy ring. In Victorian times, the pansy symbolised loving thought and memories (it's name comes from the French 'penser', 'to think') and jewellery such as this was given as a gesture of friendship and platonic love.
The pansy motif is formed by five cabochon-cut turquoise, set in a band of 9ct yellow gold with detailed foliate engraving extending the length of its circumference. The small size of the ring makes it most suitable for wear on the pinky finger.
Size J (US 5).
No stamps are present. The gold tests as a minimum of 9ct.
Weight (approximate): 1.0g
Measurements (approximate): Head of ring measures 7mm x 7mm.
Condition: Good, with wear commensurate with age. The turquoise are brightly coloured and appear to be original, with small nibbles to a few viewable under magnification. The engraving is rubbed in some areas. The band appears to have been previously resized. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
Cost includes full insurance coverage for loss or damage in transit.
