A beautiful antique knot ring dating to the late Victorian period (1837-1901). The band is heavy, wide, and is perfect for stacking or for wear as a wedding ring. It is designed as four interwoven strands of yellow gold which combine to form a knot. Knot rings were traditionally worn as wedding rings (the knot representing the strength of the bond between two lovers). This ring has a plaque inside the band bearing the dedication 'Joseph Massie, August 1883'. It may originally have been the wearer's wedding ring, to which she had the plaque added after her husband's passing, signifying their love beyond death.
No visible stamps but ring tests as 18ct gold.
Size: P (US8). Ring cannot be resized without losses to the design.
Weight: 12.3g
Measurements (approximate): ring is 9mm at widest point, tapering to 8mm.
