This exceptional long guard chain from the Victorian era (1837-1901) is perfect for the budget conscious antique lover. It is made from pinchbeck - an alloy of copper and zinc with a deceptively golden look. The links are formed by hollow balls, each pierced with a star motif, a very rare and popular design. At a generous 52 inches in length, this chain is perfect for layering (I can loop up to three times around the neck). It also has a dog clip from which to hang charms and trinkets.
Material: pinchbeck
Length: chain is approximately 132cm (52") not including dog clip
Link width: approximately 3mm
Weight: 35.5g
Condition: Good condition with wear commensurate with age. There is some minor wear to the links visible when viewed with a loupe, and one link has a small spot of solder. Otherwise, the chain is in wonderful condition. It hangs perfectly and none of the links are misshapen. The dog clip functions well. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
