A striking and unusual shield-shaped antique ring box dating to the late-Victorian era (1837-1901). The exterior is upholstered in deep burgundy velvet, while the interior has cream-coloured velvet and satin lining, printed 'B. Leefe & Son, Jewellers Etc., Market Place, Malton'. The box opens with a hinge and closes with a push button catch and is suitable for holding wider bands.
Measurements (approximate): 35mm (L) x 28mm (W) x 34mm (H). Ring cavity measures 24mm x 7mm.
Condition: Very good with wear commensurate with age. Hinge and clasp both function well. Interior lining is intact. Please see pictures for details and don't hesitate to ask questions.
